Australian Rectifiers was established in 1987 as the exclusive Australian, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea distributor for Plating Electronic GmbH of Germany — one of the world's leading manufacturers of IGBT switchmode rectifiers for electrochemical applications.

Over 37 years, we have grown from a specialist importer to a full-service power supply partner, offering supply, installation, commissioning, service and repair of industrial DC power supplies and variable auto transformers.

We also hold exclusive territory rights across AU, NZ and PNG for Green Dot Electric Corp variable auto transformers (variacs) and Servo Dot voltage stabilisers.

1987
Founded Alongside Plating Electronic GmbH
Australian Rectifiers was established as the exclusive Australian, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea distributor for Plating Electronic GmbH of Germany, bringing world-class IGBT switchmode rectifiers to the Australian market for the first time.
1990s
Expanded Product Range & Melbourne Workshop
Throughout the 1990s, the product range grew to include the full PE series of rectifiers and pulse reverse systems. A dedicated Melbourne workshop was established for local construction, testing, and service of industrial power supplies.
2005
New 500m² Hoppers Crossing Facility
Opened a purpose-built 500m² facility at 15 Richards Road, Hoppers Crossing — just 20 minutes west of Melbourne CBD. The new premises provided dedicated space for rectifier construction, high-power testing, service, and spare parts warehousing.
2010
Green Dot Electric Partnership
Became the exclusive AU/NZ/PNG distributor for Green Dot Electric Corp (Est. 1979, India), adding the Dimmer Dot range of variable auto transformers (variacs) and Servo Dot voltage stabilisers to the product portfolio.
2015
a major Australian steel manufacturer Flagship Large-Scale Installation
Completed the landmark large-scale paralleled rectifier installation for a major Australian steel manufacturer — the largest single electroplating power supply system in Australia. Multiple PE 4000 units configured in parallel with integrated digital process control.
2020
Green Hydrogen & Critical Minerals Expansion
Expanded into emerging sectors — green hydrogen electrolysis and critical minerals electrowinning — providing high-current rectifier solutions for Australia's energy transition and resource processing industries.

Construction, high-power testing, service, repair, and spare parts warehousing — all under one roof at Hoppers Crossing.

Our purpose-built workshop at 15 Richards Road, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029, is located just 20 minutes west of Melbourne CBD. The 500m² facility is fully equipped for construction, testing, service and repair of industrial power supplies.

From bench-testing individual rectifier modules to commissioning large-scale parallel installations, every unit is inspected and tested in our workshop before delivery. Our Melbourne location means we maintain local spare parts inventory for fast turnaround on service and repairs.
